MASTERCLASS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOTOX!
It is a treatment, that a lot of us have thought about – I know I have. I was never going to get botox injected into my face. I‘ve tried many cosmetics treatments (including lip fillers) but botox was something I was afraid of. Especially, since I became more interested in the whole clean beauty concept, the idea to inject toxin willingly into my face was just never going to happen.
BUT DURING THE RECENT YEARS I’VE SEEN MANY OF MY FRIENDS IN THEIR 30’S GETTING BOTOX, FIRST I THOUGHT WHY? I USED TO THINK BOTOX WAS MEANT TO REMOVE UNWANTED WRINKLES. BUT AFTER A LOT OF RESEARCH ON GOOGLE, AND VISITING A NEW FAVOURITE MEDICAL CLINIC I LEARNED SOMETHING, THAT MADE ME RECONSIDER, AND PROBABLY YOU TOO.
THE BOTOX TABO
My family and probably also some of my closest friends would have judged me if I told them the first time, I got botox. “You’re going to get botox.! Why?” Completely the same reaction that I had. And the historical links are the same. They think Joan Rivers, Donatella Versace or Reality TV stars that didn't know when to stop. But the truth is, when botox is done correctly by experts in their fields, its undetectable, even by me. Botox is not supposed to change the way you look. It is supposed to keep you looking young and fresh, and what is wrong with that? To look like you finally got 8 hours of beauty sleep, which is rare after becoming a mother. And for me, to maintain the way I look now, and prevent deep wrinkles. I could continue to use expensive serums but it just takes longer, and if there is one thing I don't have, its time. So for my 30th birthday, I gave myself the gift of botox.
Botox lasts about 3-4 months, but it varies on an individual level of course. If you have the treatment more frequently , the change becomes visible to the people around you. Know when to stop. If someone asks whether you have had work done, you know you are going overboard.
If you're curious, just try it. It’s not a lifetime commitment, and you won't get addicted to it after only one time, if you don't like it, it will fade out after 3-6 months and there is no negative adverse side effect.
TIP: Get botox before the summertime - during the months of summer your skin is exposed to harsh UV rays all day long which penetrates the skin breaking down your collagen & elastin which leads to wrinkles. Plus you squeak your eyes a lot during the summer, which increases the depth of your frown lines. I would say that May is a good time, right before the summer and then quick touch up in December. Start the year looking your best.
If you are considering botox, then start early. And when I say early, I'm mean in your early thirties. Botox is an excellent way to prolong the period where your skin looks young, and prevent any wrinkles from forming. The deeper the lines you have, the more botox you have to get, and that’s when it starts to become noticeable. Botox can prevent fine lines from getting worse and if your start early you can even reverse some of your lines. Seriously start early, the horror effects of botox is when you see a 60 year old getting botox for the first time, removing all of her wrinkles. Picture that for a moment.
First and foremost, you should trust your gut feeling for this decision. Secondly, pick an expert practitioner to perform this treatment. Finally, this is not a cheap treatment, this is a noticeable investment. So consider that as well, before you make up your mind.
TIP: Be sure your doctor is qualified and has a solid reputation. The ones that need to market themselves are not the ones busy injecting people !
PS. Did you know that botox was the most popular cosmetic treatment in 2018?
